Illinois Auto Insurance Lawyer

The state of Illinois requires automobile drivers to purchase bodily injury liability coverage and property damage liability coverage. At a minimum, the driver must have bodily injury liability coverage of at least $20,000 per person injured in any one accident and $40,000 total for all persons injured in any one accident. Additionally, the driver must have a minimum of $15,000 property damage liability coverage for the destruction of the property of others as a result of an automobile accident. This is often represented as 20/40/15 coverage.

Automobile drivers must purchase uninsured motorist/underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage. This type of insurance is meant to cover bodily injuries caused by an uninsured/underinsured driver. At a minimum, the driver must have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage of at least $20,000 per person injured in any one accident and $40,000 total for all persons injured in any one accident caused by an uninsured/underinsured motorist.
