New Hampshire Auto Insurance Attorney
The state of New Hampshire does not have compulsory auto insurance liability laws; instead, New Hampshire's financial responsibility law requires motorists to purchase enough insurance coverage, or have enough money on hand, to cover damages sustained by others caused by an automobile accident. Many drivers choose to purchase auto insurance in order to satisfy the requirements of the financial responsibility law. Generally, it is advised that motorists purchase bodily injury liability coverage of at least $25,000 per person injured in any one accident and $50,000 total for all persons injured in any one accident. Additionally, the driver should have a minimum of $25,000 property damage liability coverage for the destruction of the property of others as a result of an automobile accident. This is often represented as 25/50/25 coverage.
Automobile drivers have the option of purchasing uninsured motorist or underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage. This type of insurance is meant to cover bodily injuries caused by an uninsured or underinsured driver. In New Hampshire, uninsured motorist coverage includes underinsured motorist coverage. If a person chooses to purchase uninsured motorist coverage, the coverage may be purchased in any amount not less than the amount of bodily injury coverage purchased.
