North Dakota Auto Insurance Attorney
The state of North Dakota The state of North Dakota requires automobile drivers to purchase bodily injury liability coverage and property damage liability coverage. At a minimum, the driver must have bodily injury liability coverage of at least $25,000 per person injured in any one accident and $50,000 total for all persons injured in any one accident. Additionally, the driver must have a minimum of $25,000 property damage liability coverage for the destruction of the property of others as a result of an automobile accident. This is often represented as 25/50/25 coverage. North Dakota state law requires the purchase of personal injury protection coverage of at least $30,000 to cover reasonable and necessary medical, rehabilitation, work loss, and funeral expenses sustained by the policyholder or the policyholder's passengers, without regard to fault.
Automobile drivers must purchase uninsured motorist/underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage. This type of insurance is meant to cover bodily injuries caused by an uninsured/underinsured driver. At a minimum, the driver must have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage of at least $25,000 per person injured in any one accident and $50,000 total for all persons injured in any one accident caused by an uninsured/underinsured motorist.
North Dakota follows a No-Fault system. Under such a system, the insurance company will pay injury claims, regardless of fault, up to a specified limit; however, some of the legal rights to sue a negligent driver under a No-Fault system are significantly limited.
